| The OutReach program helps the MDFM fulfill its mission by educating and exposing those students that would not normally be exposed to the mexican dance art or any arts in general. Many of our students in the outreach program could not afford dance classes in many mainstream companies or have parents whom feel dance is not worth the money nor time. Our OutReach program allows us to place Maestros in afterschool programs where these type of students can be reached. Our OutReach program not only reaches elementary - high school students but also universities, dance workshops around the world, workshops at other dance companies, and reaches senior citizens. |
| Dancing is a great form of excercise and is a very important component in todays American society where obesity is such a problem and where diabetes is so widespread especially in our latino community. Art is such integral part of a childs development and learning process. Folk dance is a great way to fulfill these two components and serves as a conduit for students to learn of their own culture or learn about someone else's culture. Contact us and implement our OutReach program into your program. |
| We have taught workshops in Mexico as well as workshops here in the USA such as Danzantes Unidos. We have Maestros experienced in teaching students from age 4 to senior citizens. We have implemented programs in the senior citizens centers of Fremont, CA and Union City CA; as well as dance programs such as Newark Memorial High School & Castro Valley High. Our OutReach programs have been involved in after school programs with districts such as Hayward unified School district and Oakland school District. |
| Currently there are three maestros that teach throughout the Bay Area. Maestra Yolanda Champion teaches Mexican Folk, West African, and Hip Hop through out the Bay area in her SEEDS program. Maestra Vanessa Koneffklatt teaches Mexican folk, Latin Rythyms, and Flamenco in Concord, CA. Maestra Jennifer Zaldivar teaches Mexican folk in Union city, CA.
