The MDFM is an organization which focuses on our mission and vision, eventhough we are an organization made up of three components; Therefore, we aim to meet the standards set by our mission in different ways:
The Professional Company
The Academy
Though the professional Company, Academy, and OutReach Program all reach for these goals differently, they do have one main thing in common: Performance.
Regardless what component of the organization performs, performance is a forum for cultural exchange between the performers and the audience in which both are enriched by the experience. No matter where the performance takes place a school, a community event, or in a theatre, the venue is only a catalyst for this cultural exchange.
Performance is also a forum for choregraphers to freely display their expression for the Mexican culture through movement. Choreographers are free to express their individualism in our organization whether they come from a background of preserving and researching for the original "true" expression of Mexican folk or if they have a passion to reinvent folklore using their past experiences; finding the beauty of the body movement not only in the original form but in a fusion of the original with movement coming from within the artist themselves.
Maestros are free to choreograph/express themselves in all components of our organization. this freedom is not only beneficial to the artist but for the audience as well. Through performance the audience can truly expereince and be educated of the expression of Mexican culture through dance as well as exposure to different forms of expression.
